BATH & BODY WORKS GENERAL

Why is the product I see on the US website not the same as what is on the Netherlands website?

All Bath & Body Works products sold on this website and in our official stores are designed and produced in the US. There may be differences in when items are available due to transit times from our suppliers, typically with a short delay to our franchise partners outside the US and Canada. Local regulations or seasonality may prohibit certain items from being sold in a given country.

Are items sold on your website authentic?

Yes. Bath & Body Works the Netherlands only sells authentic products from the same suppliers as the US-based Bath & Body Works stores. There may be slight differences in product labeling as required by local laws. If you have a question about an item, please contact our customer care team or view the full list of our  global locations.

What is your policy regarding animal testing?

Bath & Body Works does not test any of our products, formulations or ingredients on animals. Period. All of our personal care products are produced in North America, Europe and South Korea.

What is the shelf life of BBW products?

Unless the product has a specific expiration date listed, a product shelf life is 2-3 years

  • Products with an expiration date on them usually have an active ingredient (such as SPF) that expires prior to our normal 2-3-year shelf life.
  • Products like Wallflower Bulbs, Scent portable Refills do not have a shelf life of 3 years. They will remain fragrant as long as they are unopened.
  • Products should be stored in a cool (25c)/dry place with minimal exposure to direct light to optimize product shelf life

How can I tell when a product is expired?

Because ingredient combinations break down at different rates over time, expiration dates vary from product to product. In general, though, here are a few rules of thumb:

  • Sealed containers should remain fresh for three years after the manufacture date.
  • Skin care products in opened containers should be effective for up to two years. After two years? It’s best to toss them and re-stock!
  • Preserve the life of your product by storing it in a cool place (about 10 degrees lower than normal room temperature).
  • Expired body care products won’t damage skin, but they will be less effective over time. Aged ingredients won’t nourish and hydrate your skin as thoroughly as fresh ones.

PACKAGING

Select collections and forms are now made with Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials, including Aromatherapy, Fragrant Body Care, Men’s, Travel Size, Foaming Hand Soap, Gel Hand Soap, Luxe Hand Soap, and Hand Cleanser.

What is Post-Consumer Recycled material?

These are materials that were diverted from landfills instead of using all new plastic to make the packaging.

How can I tell if a bottle is made with PCR?

Most bottles that are made with PCR will have an icon on the back label as well as the callout “Bottle Made With XX% Recycled Plastic”.

Does PCR change the color of the packaging?

Select items that currently come in clear PCR packaging may now appear tinted. The tint varies and could appear to be grey, yellow or brown. The tint is only on the packaging and does not impact the formula or fragrance of the product itself. Color variations may also occur in colored soap packaging.

Does the PCR packaging discoloration impact the product formula or fragrance quality?

No, the only impact is to the coloring of the outside, plastic packaging. The product formulas and fragrances are the same.

Wallflower Usage Tips

Learn how to use and get the most out of your Bath & Body Works Wallflowers by following our recommended safety and product usage tips!

  • To get started, twist right (clockwise) to uncap the refill and twist left (counter-clockwise) to attach it to the plug.
  • Always keep your plug and fragrance refill upright. Our rotating plug lets you use a vertical or horizontal outlet!
  • Though thoroughly tested and completely safe to use, Wallflowers refills contain fragrance oils that may damage finished surfaces and some plastics, so always keep a 30 cm clearance above your plug to prevent damage to surrounding surfaces. If oil spills, be sure to wipe it up immediately.
  • Each plug includes a built-in safety mechanism that automatically shuts off and disables the plug if it overheats. In the infrequent event that this happens, please log in to ‘My account’, select and upload a picture of the damaged item.

How do I twist off my Wallflower Refill cap?

It can be a little challenging to open the wallflower refill because the cap twists in the opposite direction (reverse thread) as you normally do to open a container.

Why do Wallflowers have a reverse thread?

The reverse thread is used for safety reasons. When Wallflowers were first launched (almost 20 years ago), liquid plug-in products were very new. There were concerns that the device could be misused by twisting in products that were not design (and safety tested) with the Wallflower plugs, so the reverse thread was used to minimize the risk that the plug could be misused, and has been part of the Wallflower design ever since.

What voltage is recommended for Wallflower Plugs?

The recommended voltage for Wallflower Plugs is 120 volts.

Are Bath & Body Works candles safe?

Our candles are safe when used as directed on the label. They undergo extensive quality and safety testing under rigorous burn and use conditions and meet or exceed all applicable industry and government standards for safety and performance. Many factors, beyond the construction of the candle itself, can affect its performance such as room drafts, debris that may have accumulated in the wax’s melt pool, wick length and proper pre-burn trimming

What are your candles made of?

Bath & Body Works currently offers two different formulas of wax for our candles. The main ingredients for all formulas are vegetable wax, paraffin wax, and soy.

Our Signature Collection Candles are considered vegetable wax candles. Although soy is an ingredient, our candles are not considered soy candles.

What makes your high intensity candles different?

Our High Intensity Candles are amped up with even more fragrance! If you are looking for a stronger, more fragrant throw, our High Intensity Candles are for you.

Why is there wax left in the bottom of my candle?

For your safety our candles are designed to leave up to 1.5 cm of wax so the glass never gets too hot. When your candle reaches this point, it is time to shop for more!

Is there a difference in burn hours between Single Wick and 3-Wick Candles?

Great question! Both our Single Wick and 3-Wick Candles have a burn time of approximately 25-45 hours.

Are your hand soaps antibacterial?

Our hand soaps are not antibacterial, but are just as effective at washing away germs when used with proper hand washing for 20 seconds.

Are your cleansing hand gels antibacterial?

Our cleansing hand gels are formulated with 62-80% ethyl alcohol.

We do not use methanol in any of our products, and Eskbiochem (the Mexico-based company identified by the FDA) is not one of our product vendors. We want to assure you that our cleansing hand gels are safe for use and meet all requirements for safety and efficacy.

How do I open my car fragrance holder?

Our car fragrance holders consist of two pieces: the back, which has a built-in clip for a visor or a vent, and the decorative front cover. To open the holder, twist the top counterclockwise. Peel back the foil topping of your refill to reveal a clear plastic film, which will disperse the scent. Put the refill into the back of the Car Fragrance Holder with the film facing out. Put the top of the car fragrance holder onto the back and turn clockwise to click into place.

Refills are intended to last 4-6 weeks depending on the environment, and the refill will not dry up before a replacement is needed. Once you can no longer smell the fragrance, it is time for a new one!

How long will my car fragrance refill last?

Our car fragrance refills typically last 4-6 weeks. There are a few factors that can affect the longevity of this product, including extreme weather changes, high altitude climates, and running the air conditioning or heat in your car at lower or higher temperatures for long periods of time. There will always be fluid left in the refill, even after the scent has dissipated.
